I currently have a G4 ibook 14" and thinking (most likely will) upgrade to a Macbook Pro 15" very soon and was wondering about the value of Applecare. I bought it when I purchased my ibook and have never used it so far and considering the substantial increase in price from ibook to Macbook Pro, can I justify another $500 (approx) to purchase Apple Care?

I would appreciate some feedback...

I wouldn't bother buying it right away. Wait till you have the Macbook Pro, if you have any serious repair issues with the machine then buy AppleCare before the one year warranty expires.

You can buy AppleCare at any time during the initial warranty period (i.e. first year). My advice would be to wait and see... if you decide later that you want the extra warranty then purchase it before your initial warranty runs out.
