Does anyone have any feedback on ex-demo Macs, the mini in particular? CompNow has one I'm looking at for my wife but I'm a little wary. The 12-month warranty is better than I'd expect on an ex-demo, but it won't do much good if I'm constantly taking it back to be fixed (through no fault of the reseller, of course).

If you've bought one from anywhere, how was it?

I bought one from Mac1 and so far it appears fine.

I also bought one last year from Apple Centre Ivanhoe and it hasn't skipped a beat.

My powerbook was ex-demo.. nearly 2 years old! They also nicely gave me AppleCare for free which was awesome. The only problem was at one point the RAM went skitz, but they replaced that...

Nice savings

When demo machines are bought, they are given an extra 3 months warranty. So they keep it in store for about 2 months and then sell it with 1 year warranty.

Pretty good!

I imagine you would be lots better off with exdemo compared with a firesale model

I also believe that the ex-demo ones have only been displayed for a very short period before it starts being sold as ex-demo. I will buy it if I am looking for such model.

That used to be the case. AFAIK resellers don't get the extra 3 months any more, I don't know if the Apple Centres are treated any differently.
