I just noticed on Hardmac an article reporting that the prices of Mac mini's, iMacs and some iPods have dropped (in Europe at least - Apple.com.au prices haven't changed).
Quote:
Mac mini and iMac Core Duo Are Cheaper...iPod nano too! - Lionel - 11:30:39
Apple has lowered the price of Mac mini and iMac Core Duo.
New prices are as follow (all taxes included):
Mac mini:
Core Solo: 619 Euros (-30 Euros).
Core Duo: 799 Euros (-50 Euros).
iMac core Duo:
17": 1299 Euros (-80 Euros).
20": 1699 Euros (-100 Euros).
Apple might have simply translate the recent price cuts applied by Intel on its Core CPUs.

[update]
ipod nano prices are also down!
- 1GB: 159 Euros (- 10 Euros)
- 2GB: 209 Euros (-14 Euros)
- 4GB: 259 Euros (-18 Euros)
Is Apple getting prepared for a future revision??

Edit: I can't find any other site reporting this so maybe it's bogus
Edit2: Prices reported by HardMac do match the prices on the French Apple online store.

Interesting. Maybe this will mean the Aus Apple Store will go down over night and change these prices. If the mini drops about $50 for each, it'll be a better buy

I can't remember what the old prices were, but people on whirlpool are saying they (minis) are lower now by ~$50 than before.

I couldn't remember the old prices exactly. I didn't think they had changed.
So the Aus prices HAVE changed. That was sneaky on Apple's part.

Is it just me but the itunes music store seems to be down as well, don't tell me they are changing the prices for the online music.
As for the $50 price drop about time, as the mark up against USD allowing for currency fluctuations is still about 10% too hire a 100 buck drop would have put things a bit more in line.

Intel have dropped (or are about to) the price on the Core Duo CPUs AFAIK in preparation for Core 2 Duo, thus explaining the price drops.
Strange that there have been no price drops in the laptops though... maybe Apple have only dropped the models that are having slow sales.

20" iMac Intel - $2599
Mac Mini Core Solo - $949
Mac Mini Core Duo - $1249
iPod Hi-Fi - $519

Yay!
Apple finally found a decent firm to hedge their currency exposure!
Or Intel dropped the Core duo prices due to the upcoming release of the Core 2 Duo processors (but something tells me that Apple would have been smart enough to lock those prices in with the volume discount for quite some time).
Does anyone know if ppl who have bought macs in the past 10 days get a refund of the difference?

You're kidding aren't you? Mitsubishi and Holden might do nice things like that but I don't think Aplle ever have.

If you paid full price you don't deserve a discount! It's not that hard to find it cheaper than the new Apple price anyway...
