I just got this message from applecentre taylor square.
Att: Sylvester H*****
You are invited to the Grand Opening of Australia's largest Apple Retail
Store at 7:00pm 15th June 2006!
In June 2006, AppleCentre TaylorSquare will close its doors in Darlinghurst,
and will re-commence trading from our new and exclusive
Academy Store, located in Bondi Junction, Sydney. Until the 15th of June 2006,
AppleCentre TaylorSquare will be clearing all stock on hand, with great
savings across our entire product range.
Over the past 5 years we have served in excess of 125,000 customers across
Sydney and the Eastern Suburbs, and we are very excited to be opening the
largest Apple retail store in Australia, right next door to one of Australia's most
recognisable and accessable shopping destinations, Westfields Bondi Junction.
Our new Academy Store - Bondi Junction - features a 3 story glass and
stainless steel exterior, complimented with a light and modern interior, and a
signature glass and stainless steel centre staircase and atrium.
The store will also include;
- 3 Story Retail Experience with complete disabled/universal lift access.
- A Consumer Products Zone
- A Professional Business, Graphics and Video Zone
- An iPod Technology Zone where customers can listen to iPods and seek
advice.
- A Comprehensive Third-Party Technology Level housing thousands of
third-party accessories.
- A Kids Section with 4 Computer Stations loaded with educational packages
- An 8 Seat Academy SupportBar where customers can ask purchasing,
technical or training questions.
- Two 12 seat Hands-on Academy Training Labs providing over 624 training
events per month, including the new Academy ProCard day, held once a month
with special retail store hours, presentations and demonstrations to assist
ProCard members.
- A 24 seat State of the Art Academy Cinema where customers can attend
special Apple and Third Party products demonstrations, or attend customer
short-film releases and screenings.
Come celebrate the grand opening of our new multi-level Academy Store.
On the night, go into the draw to win great prizes.
Be one of the first to experience the largest Apple retail store built in Australia.
We look forward to seeing you in-store!
You can find the new Academy Store, Bondi Junction at:
Bronte Street Westfields Fashion Entrance
20 Bronte Road, Bondi Junction NSW 2022, Australia.
Sydney Appletalk meet will have to be at this location!

This explains alot. One of the apple centres that was in Bondi Junction were told it would be wise to move 'soon' - this was at the start of the year...!

Is that the Apple Store (as the ones in USA, UK and Japan), or Apple Authorised Reseller?

Smells to me like a rip-off of a genuine Apple Retail Store.. except eveything's been branded with this 'Academy' naming.
- A Kids Section with 4 Computer Stations loaded with educational packages
Same as in the large Apple Retail Stores
- An 8 Seat Academy SupportBar where customers can ask purchasing, technical or training questions.
Can anyone say, 'Genius Bar'!??
- Two 12 seat Hands-on Academy Training Labs providing over 624 training events per month, including the new Academy ProCard day, held once a month with special retail store hours, presentations and emonstrations to assist ProCard members.
This is called 'The Studio' in Apple Retail stores
- A 24 seat State of the Art Academy Cinema where customers can attend special Apple and Third Party products demonstrations, or attend customer short-film releases and screenings.
And I've got a hunch I've seen one of these before too???
I'm sure it'll be great, but its a bit sad that it takes a re-seller to pull together and develop their own Retail Store-replica in a world city like Sydney.. Anyone who's been to one of the real deal stores in the US, Japan, or the UK will know what I mean.
Enjoy nonetheless..

For once something is happening in the east and not on the north side of the bridge or out west.
Alleluia will be good to pop down to that store when it opens.

You blank out your last name but let us all know Sylvester is your first name ??? lol. I kid - because I love
Interesting that the guys from Taylor Square have decided to try and build their own "Big Apple Store". Apparently they approached Apple about setting up Australia's first "proper" Apple Store but were told No.
I guess this new store doesn't leave out the posibility of an Apple Store being launched on day in Sydney - although a lot of people seem to think Melbourne will get the first one. I guess the white would stand out better against all the dark grey
