But they're plugged into the PC on the right, running Gentoo Linux
I've also got a 15" Core Duo MacBook Pro not in the shot.

Hi people , finally got around to posting "my' set up.
It's pretty compact, but both Macs are laptops, the phone is on a long cord, and I have a headset for the skype phone, so I tend to spend a fair amount of my working day on the lounge or Balcony.
Here's another shot.
I'm starting to think that Devils Ivy plant is part "Trifid"!

where the Base speaker lives.

Bought a new desk yesterday - FINALLY!!! Very happy with how it all worked out, can't see a cable anywhere!
Well, maybe traces of hint of a cable :-)

Got that one from Harvey Norman for $415NZ. Saw it there a few months ago when it was around $600 and I was very nearly going to get it, good thing I waited though the price was pretty good! I've noticed decent desks are waaaay pricey!
They had a similar one that was a smokey glass top as well, with the same sort of frame. That one was $460

gehanna, did you hook up the cables yourself, or does the desk itself have hooks or something?

i hooked them up myself, have a bit of experience with that kinda thing from my job. I had considered getting something to act as a bracket and screwing them into the wood, but the way the desk is designed is really good for attaching cables. Basically once its all put together you can loosen the screws that go into the desktop from the frame. that gives mil or so of clearance. so I was able to attach virtually everything to the rear frame using zip ties. Once attached I just gave the screws another turn and it was just like new again. The other lucky thing is that the frame is a grey colour - the same as a roll of duct tape I have. So i was able to run the power cable along the skirting board and then up the inside of a leg of the frame. I taped it in a couple of places to keep it tight against the metal and you wouldn't even know because the tape blends right in
edit: I do need to take care of that loose cable at the back rear corner - its really annoying me now lol

The first thing that comes to mind when I look at your set up Gehenna, is the superior design standards of the Apple Mac platform. What is that 'Butt ugly black thing in the middle with the Huge cyclops eye?(looks like it's mother could have been a "Dalek".)
Plenty of working space on that desk as well, but the raised metal bars on the surface of the desk would annoy me no end, as would the overall industrial design.

Haha yeah, that's my company laptop. It's up for lease renewal this year and I'll be getting a Macbook Pro
I made some trade offs with the desk. I would have loved a desk with a flush top all the way around...but I don't have a lot of space in my house, and we're looking to move in a few months so I didn't want to risk getting a desk now that wouldn't fit later. also, this setup can be two completely independent desks. so if my partner and I do downsize houses, she can have one desk and I can have another (she is a uni student and will be a teacher next year). I'm also not a fan of having a bar obstruct my feet - but the desk is deep enough for that not to be an issue. All in all it was a good buy, I'm happy with it I'll be happier when the tecra morphs into a macbook pro though!
