Let me start off by saying that this is my first review ever, and that i didnt initially intend to write this up, but when you finish reading this review you will realize why i did

first thing i thought of when i heard of this mouse was "wow laser it isnt that special all mice have lasers" but at that point i was already wrong, normal mice (red laser) isnt a laser mouse, it is a optical mouse the red light is the LED. laser works in a totally different way than optical, lasers dont have any lights and have 20x the tracking than normal optical mice.

when i walked into the shop i was purchasing it from the box straight away caught my eye, with its hologramic spectrum of colors surrounding the mouse i was already impressed. so i bought it ($105.60 not bad at all )

when i got home i quickly unraveled it and plugged it in, to my surprise the mouse's internal lithium battery was already 3/4 full this was good since i could wait just around 15mins and i was working with it when i picked it up it felt a little heavy, but nothing too extreme, it was around 500g. the mouse's tracking and sensitivity is amazing, like nothing i have ever used, it worked flawlessly on every surface i tried on, tiles, lacquered wood, smoky glass, the only thing it refused to work on was a clean sheet of glass, however if i put a picture under the glass it did work the optical mouse didnt even move on tiles.

the mouses shape it very ergonomically friendly, it fits perfectly in my right hand, sorry lefty's this isnt the mouse for you. the mouse has many buttons, the side scrolling is handy and to be exact there are 12 buttons on this mouse (left click, right click, up scroll, down scroll, left scroll, right scroll, scroll click, quick scroll button up, quick scroll button down, back, forward, change app) all the buttons can be customized to what ever you want using the provided logitech control centre utility.

The its pretty cool to have a battery indicator on the mouse it has 3 LEDS that change color when its becoming low.

the mouses range is much more than ordinary mice, and there is no lag at all, it feels as if it is a corded mouse. which is a big plus, i havnt had the battery die on me before and i have left it for weeks without docking. which is also a big plus!

overall i think this mouse is THE BEST MOUSE MONEY CAN BUY!

PROS
• great grip
• heaps of customizable buttons
• quick charging
• great range
• great battery performance
• laser

CONS
• maybe a little expensive for a few (105.60 at ARC in Parramatta) and around $140 everywhere else
• thats it!

highly recommend buying this mouse if you want a reliable great cordless mouse.

10/10

Is this a bluetooth mouse or does it have one of those USB dongles?
Sorry if you wrote that bit and I missed it.

Awesome article by the way.

And spelling nazi's before you strike, I think he's intentionally spelt it Lazer.

it is cordless not bluetooth i think its like that because the tacking would not have been the best if it was bluetooth. and yes intentionally lazer :P

Good review

My only dislike of my MX1000 is that the base transmitter isn't USB bus powered and requires an external power supply. However, I'm sure this contributes to the reliability of the mouse and the range.

I perfer the MX900, however, I think the 1000 (yes I have used it) has a way better tracking system. I agree Currawong, the extra power is a pain the arse, and I also believe the 1000 is too bulky - MX900 is perfect to travel in a laptop bag.

mind you, if my Dual Optical USB Logitech mouse ever dies, I will probably end up getting an MX1000 for my desktop. Mind you my dual optical, NEVER has tracking issues, but then again, it is plugged in and powered from the computer.

actually i like the idea of the external power because if it wasnt there then how will the mouse charge when the computer is asleep?

I don’t quite get the forum topic: “Review: Logitech Mx-1000 Lazer Mouse, First Lazer Mouse, but is it the worst?”.

However, since it is AFAIK the only laser mouse on the market, it has to be the best… and the worst. And everything in between.

I’d like one of these mice. But if laser is truly as good as advertised, then hopefully some competition will show up some time.

agreed icant: choice would be good, and if another company started competing with similar technology, I am sure there would be some positive benefits to the consumer.

The MX900 is great for the person on the move, and it is great not needing a base-station to use a wireless mouse (using Bluetooth instead). However, I would choose a MX1000 if I had a desktop computer. And whilst it was deliberate, "lazer" is the incorrect spelling for anyone living in Australia. It's spelt "laser." :P Fight the cultural imperialism! Kill anyone who mispronounces "Aluminium" and drops "u"s from random words.

You mean the Microsoft ones made by logitech?

I always thought their mouse's were kick ass, they are probably ergonomically the mouses around I think.
