Default iPhone development and "normal" usage

I just got my confirmation/activation for the iPhone Developer Program. I have a 32GB iPod Touch, and no iPhone. When you use an iPT/iPhone as a dev device, an you still use it's other functions? Do you lose storage space for the inbuilt debugger and other dev niceties?

If I can't actually use my 32GB for "normal" stuff while it's in dev mode, it would make sense to try and pick up a cheap 8GB iPT just for dev purposes, so as not to waste the expensive flash memory.

I'm using 1 iPhone for dev and daily use. In general, there's no issues with doing that at all.

The main prob is keeping dev builds of apps AND the previous release builds on the one device... can be confusing. I haven't noticed any loss in space.

Having said all that, I'm probably going to buy a new iPhone the second new models are released and keep my old phone for dev. Maybe.

OK, so as long as I don't mess around with beta OS releases, I should be fine? I plan on getting an iPhone some time soon, so I guess I'll probably ditch the iPT then, and maybe replace it with an 8GB iPT for dev work.

Yeah, that's it.

I haven't bothered with any beta OSs. So long term having 2 devices is probably better, but not essential.
