That's my sole concern at this point - will they all offer visual voicemail?

No thanks. Don't want Australia to become a cess-pit for half-backed ideas. The iPhone is obviously not a half-backed idea but you know what I mean.

We should take guesses to how much the iPhones RRP will be in Australia. I'd say around the $1000 mark.

The resellers were told in person so as to eliminate that and as decryption said, several dates in the same week were told to try and spot leaks.
You have it on good authority this came in today from multiple very reliable sources though.
It makes sense now why we haven't had a leak yet from one of the telco's like normally happens overseas....

Yeah, that sounds about right. Certainly won't be as cheap as the US model.

This seems almost too good to be true! Definitely great news. As many others have said, price becomes the big concern now - how much will the thing cost, and what will be pay for the data?

Agreed. Apple don't want people breaking into handsets after the app store is released, otherwise they risk having a software piracy community on iPhone. If people don't have to unlock their handset, then they won't have to jailbreak it - thus giving them no way to put pirated gear on it.

I imagine a smart telco will immediately have an iphone plan with unlimited data usage. With no single carrier supporting the iphone, this should really advance the data plans in australia!

Wow. I had been thinking of importing an iPhone on the back of how much I've enjoyed the Touch, now I won't bother.
An iPhone will be my first mobile phone!

If the Aussie iPhone is 3G, yes. If not, no.

The ones that do will have an advantage advertising their network. Isn't competition wonderful
