It probably does if you have Caffeine installed.

Does that mean the battery will growl and roar?

Maybe this is the right area to ask this question: I had a VX revolution for a bout 10 months. I love(d) it. THen a cable inside the mouse which connects to the battery contact broke. Exchanged it, no dramas, got it home and on the same day our 10 month old puppy decided to take the usb receiver/transmitter and chew the shit out of it - thus broken ! Arrgghhhh.

City Software were great, and in the end gave me another receiver from the another VX and told me to ring Logitech support - apparantely, according to the logitech rep, you can reprogram the transmiiter to pair with your mouse. There overseas call station was bloody useless, and said no, that would be proprietary information. BS !

SO, to get to the question: DOes anyone know if and how I can re-pair the NEW receiver with the mouse ?

Why would i swap my logitech mx1000 for this one ? Anything im missing out on ?

Im happy to report that after 3+ years (i think its been that long) mx1000 has been nothing but brilliant. Battery is still holding charge like crazy, i only charge it once in a month and its used every day for a decent amount of time.

Unfortunately I now have to add a point to this review - the middle-click no longer works. I've had to assign one of the side buttons to middle-clicking for now until I can organise a replacement.

edit: emailed Logitech last night to request a replacement. They've contacted me at 12:30 today to advise I need to take it back to the retailer, and have given me a case number and a hotline phone number if MSY gives me any crap. So far so good. Now I just need to find time to go to MSY.

An ancient review of the MX900 logitech says the same... the logitech software is utter and complete POOP and probably always will be.

Thats why OSX rocks so hard: it automatically supports mice like this meaning you don't have to use antiquated and useless manufacturer software, thank god.

I have both the MX Revolution, and the MX1000 - The MX 1000 is still in use, the revolution is a paper weight.

(Dovla, if you wanna try a MX Revolution you can borrow mine)

But Steermouse rocks even harder! 30 days trial gives you a taste of this versatile program.

On a related topic I've had my mouse for 7 months and the free scroll doesn't continue spinning after about three spins. I've cleaned it by blowing air (not with those cans!) into it but without success. What's the best way to get the scrolling free again?

I've read in reviews that the rubber strip on the wheel is the problem (it gets loose from all the spinning) and the solution is to remove it. Anyone actually done this?

I'll second the MX1000 - awesome mouse.
I charge it so rarely I usually don't notice till it stops working ...
Even then you just pop it in the charger for a minute and it has enough to allow me to quickly save and sleep my mac for the night.

No it doesn't. Couldn't work out how to bind buttons 4 and 5 to Expose and Dashboard (VX Nano). It doesn't show the battery life of the mouse either.

Can't address the battery life (there's a battery indicator right on the VX Revolution so that's what I look at) but you can make those buttons access Expose and Dashboard by mapping them to F8 and F12.

... and mapping dashboard & exposé to those same keys via System Preferences.
