Razer Proclick Bluetooth Mouse Review

Click the image to open in full size.

Yesterday I bought Razer's latest mouse the Proclick Mobile:-

Specs:
1200 DPI optical sensor
Bluetooth 2.0 with Adaptive Frequency Hopping
Ambidextrous
Long battery life enables continuous usage (2 x AA batteries)
Travel pouch
Available in 4 colours

I bought the white one, wish there was a silver one to match my MBP Pairing it with my MBP was easy as you'd expect.

The feet are made from teflon which means it moves smoothly and doesn't get ruined like most other mice do on "funky" surfaces.

The scroll wheel is a soft, clear plastic which pulsates a faint red when you use the mouse and there is a pulsating led light in the Isle of Man logo when the mouse hasn't been used for 10 seconds which can be turned off if you desire (I imagine to conserve battery power).

The body is made from a fairly thick plastic which feels very durable. It has a non-slip surface which means you gain a good grip on it.

Size wise it's a portable so it's smaller than a desktop mouse, but because of the shape it is very comfortable in your hand, unlike some portable mice which seem too short and flat, the mouse doesn't curve inwards near the bottom makes it feel larger in your hand.

It's a three button mouse with left and right buttons that have a audible click and the third being the scroll wheel which you depress like a logitech. The only thing is the scroll wheel is rather lower than a Logitech and at first it seems as though you need to apply more pressure on the scroll wheel in order to activate the third click, but that is more aesthetic than real and I soon became use to it.

Because the Razer uses BT 2.0 and is 1200 dpi the tracking is brilliant. I found I had to get use to the idea of using less hand movements in order to get the cursor to track across the screen and in Photoshop using the Lasso tool was a happier experience as it followed through without a hitch.

It's a great mouse and for those of you who like portables but can't deal with the discomfort the smaller mice often incur the Razer is your solution. As a BT mouse it has to be one of the best on the market so far considering it utilises BT 2.0 and is 1200dpi for quality tracking and response.

Retail price is around $70.

Good stuff. A lot of people have been looking for alternative bluetooth mice, so this review is very welcome.

I too just purchased this mouse. It actually retails at 99$ (from domayne, anyway). its my first bluetooth mouse so cant really comment on tracking features n such, but ill just say that its damn good looking. I was a little bummed when they guy said dont bother with the apple mice as they are obviously the best looking, but this comes a close 2nd in appearance.

Only thing ive found annoying is the flashing light when your in a dark room, say if i go to lie in bed and leave my mac on - ill see big blue lights filling the room, meaning you have to turn off and on your mouse by the switch. But as you just said you can turn that off apparently which ill look into.

Also does yours make a slight electronic hum?

Other than that, all good. Spewing i had to get black as they had no white in stock.

Good to see that there is an alternative to the wireless mouse Apple offers.

Does the mouse wake up and pair up quickly after it or the Mac went to sleep?

Would you say this is better than the MX revolution. You say it has fast tracking in comparison to the Mighty Mouse. How would this compare to the MX revolution which is laser and this is optical?

Ended up buying the Razer Proclick because I had an MX Revolution in the past. I remember the Free Scroll annoyed me a little and made the scrolling on a web page appear a bit blurry to me, it was not a smooth action. On the iMac only having 3 USB ports, saving one with Bluetooth was a big factor. I don't have to resort to a USB hub. There is also no clutter on the desk with the docking station. Which is the reason most choose the iMac for its sleek all in one design to save space.
