Default any good dj software out there?

Ok, so i've got a bunch of mp3's on my HDD that i don't have on vinyl, is there a program that i can beat mix all these together with?

I had traccktor? dj studio... it was good, but required two outputs, and didn't actually mix down to mp3, plus i found it a little hard to use.

Granted that WAS 5 years ago...

but anyone got any ideas?

basically i want to mix about 12 songs together.

Jimbo.

Use to be an awesome Open Source DJ software, but can't for the life of me remember the name but macupdate.com brought up a couple of freebies that look okay:

Native instruments Traktor3.
I have used this software(version 2 and 3) for about 3 years and it is a very nice program to use. All the features you missed 5 years ago are there now.

if you wanna spend ages setting your warp points and have the most awesome show on earth and be very very flexibly on the fly - ABLETON LIVE

If you wanna just throw it all together quickly and easily yet very impressively - TRAKTOR DJ STUDIO

Traktor has come a long way in the last couple of versions. Yes, go for traktor.

Ableton Live is the best app I've found to do what you're asking.

if all Jimbo wants to do is knock together a set with a dozen tracks, then both Traktor and Live are going to be ridiculously expensive for a one-trick gig. Try one of the free ones, or for something far more professional and also much more modestly priced, Virtual DJ.

(BTW, I know more DJs using Traktor 3 instead of Live)

As most people have said - use Traktor for just knocking together some mixes. Live is more a performance tool - I use it to layer loops and samples over the top of what I am mixing, almost like remixing on the fly a-la 2 Many DJ's.

I like Live very much, but there's also a new kid on the block, VirtualDJ. http://www.virtualdj.com/
