I highly doubt it'll be in the middle of a food court, but who knows.

Fresh news from prominent sources at Westfield: the move will begin in about 3 or so weeks and they know for a fact that it will be an Apple Store. The boards will go up and then TADA! Apple Store

Looks like Amcal are already out of there with a sign up saying they are moving to Mother Nature's spot (well presumably part of it). The chemist is nearly totally empty with just some fixtures remaining in there.

Good spot for the store at the 'classy' end of the centre. Giddy-up.

Was at Chermside today as well .. while I was taking this picture I had a chat with one of the nearby shop managers and she said it was going to be a mac shop .. and that the black boards were likely to go up tonight.. time will tell I guess.

Ever since first large-scale shopping centre "the country club plaza" in Kansas City, Missouri in 1922 the suburban supermarket has been used in suburban developments throughout the suburban (not urban) world, reference: Elithabeth, Barlow, Rogers 2001.

I know most people in highly urbanised cities around the world use public transport because the city planning forces them to, not for their Eco-conscience. I suppose one cannot tell people to use more public transport when the public transport system was demantled by cheap vehicular transport for the masses who prefer, and have the luxury, to live in detached houses with a nice surrounding ornamental garden and generous amount of interior space.

So, it's good to read some people here drive highly fuel efficient cars, Apple would be proud of their greener lifestyles accompanying their greenest notebooks ever.

Visited Chermy today... saw the empty Amcal... and the big boarded up area near Woolies... (before reading about Amcal being the likely A-S spot). Maybe Amcal's going into the spot near Woolies? It looks like a massive area... more than the empty Amcal...

Incidentally, JBs at Cherm have a 2.1x GHz White Macbook for $1374, ex display.

Amcal will be moving into some of that vast space. That area near Woolies is going to be divided into three spaces for retailers. As per one of my previous posts, Amcal will take one space, the fruit shop will reopen as a smaller one, and I'm not sure what's going in the third.

That building is going to be divided up into luxury shops (ie Prada, Gucci) from what I know.

The retail component of Brisbane Central (Q&A) in the city will be home to a new Dymocks store, apparently.

New rumour circulating that Apple is looking at a shop fronting the Queen Street Mall at Broadway on the Mall. The most logical location is where Hype DC is currently located. This is because it 'fronts the mall' and rumour has it that Hype DC is moving to the Q&A Building.

You're kidding right - the Hype DC store is TINY. There's barely enough room to move around the place as it is...honestly, you wouldn't even fit one of the characteristic "Apple Tables" into the store, let alone a full sales floor, stock area and genius bar.

Yeah the Hype space is way too small. Don't most apple stores have two stories or a split level towards the back.

Just posting what I've heard.
Exocet, check the Brisbane Central thread out on SSC.

Accurate said Hype DC might be opening at Brisbane Central, which would mean they would move from BOTM. If they do move from BOTM and the rumour about Apple is true, this could be the site they are looking at (or Just Jeans, haven't heard of them moving though)...I agree 100% Hype DC spot is way to small

Just because Apple are looking for a site on the mall doesn't mean they're going to jump into the first one which becomes available.
