Hey guys! Great podcast but I was anticipating you giving it to Telstra and their ridiculous iPhone plans but they didn't even get a mention. Man I am pissed with those plans! I am a first gen iPhone user on Telstra ($79 cap and $29 data pack) and won't be upgrading until there is a major improvement in what they have announced.
Also, I am a Drobo user and was interested in your discussion about the benefits of the Drobo, one of the main advantages over a Raid 5 setup is that you can mix and match different drive sizes with the largest drive maintaining redundancy. i.e 2 x 750GB and 1 x 1TB = 1.5TB available space. (approx figures). Also the drives are hotswappable and scaleable up to 32TB when larger drives become available (compared with Raid 5's 4TB max)
Raid 5 really should be used with the same sized drives, if not then capacity is limited by the smallest drive in the array. i.e 1 x 250GB and 2 x 500GB drives would only yield 500GB total storage.
Of course, like most tech stuff, it seems as though they base their new announcements on my purchases. Not a couple of weeks after I got my Drobo installed they announced the Firewire 800 version and dropped the USB2.0 version by US$150! Damn...
Strewth, I hope that is all pretty close to the mark!
