Lots of news to catch up on, so here's a nice meaty post to start your week off with.
The
8GB iPhone is out of stock in the UK and sellers are unable to order more stock. Smells like 3G iPhone is imminent.
Inside Steve's Brain is a new book by Leander Kahney.
MacLife have an interview with Leander about his experience writing the book and delving into the psyche of Steve Jobs.
ArsTechnica get a sneak peek at RapidWeaver 4. Looks like a nice improvement over RapidWeaver 3 which was already pretty awesome and a huge improvement over iWeb.
MacApper have a little round-up of QuickLook plugins for Leopard which make QuickLook a lot more useful.
My favourite is Folder View - so handy!
Apple recently purchased PA Semi, a microprocessor designer that makes PowerPC designs. Apple purchasing a PPC chip company didn't make much sense to a lot of people so
RoughlyDrafted takes a nice look at who PA Semi are and what Apple could be upto with such a valuable company under their control.
Subversion is a management system traditionally for programmers to keep track of changes in their code -
however someone has applied Subversion for use by writers to track changes to their articles or books. Nerdy, but efficient if used properly.
With more and more people being frustrated by Vista, people are moving over to the Mac, duh, however, a lot of those people are programmers.
Arstechnica takes a look at the Win32 programming environment and compares it to Apple's Cocoa environment. A very interesting article that highlights a big reason why the Mac is what it is today.
TidBits writes
three good tips for using iCal in a group environment - mostly revolving around CalDAV.
A few reviews of items I've found:
Guitar Hero III for the Mac,
Blue Snowflake USB mic,
B&W Zeppelin iPod Speaker Dock,
AudioEngine A5 speakersp and the
Rain Design mStand
Couple of apps that have caught my eye lately:
Times is an inventive RSS reader that presents the news in the style of a newspaper.
VMWare Fusion got a bump to 1.1.2, bringing better support for Time Machine backups and the MacBook Air.
Evernote helps you collect various sources of information, sync it across your devices and tag it and organise it.
Rivet hooks your Mac up to your Xbox 360 to play media, it does a better job than Connect360 apparently.
iSoftPhone is a VOIP/SIP softphone designed for the Mac and it works great.
