April 7: News, news and two Apple Software Updates

Apple has released two new software updates for Quicktime 7.4.5 and
iTunes 7.6.2 respectively. Quicktime 7.4.5 (

10.4|
10.5) addresses a number of
security issues, possibly relating to the
recent hacking contest that saw a contestant break into a MacBook by directing a user towards a maliciously crafted web site.
UPI are reporting that
Apple are selling more music via iTunes than WalMart.
"It's a major milestone," Tom Adams, president of the consulting firm Adams Media Research, told [The Los Angeles Times]. "It is the first instance of an electronic venue surpassing (an actual physical) retail venue for any kind of media delivery."
Well-known Wall Street Journal writer Walt Mossberg has stated that the
3G iPhone will be available within 60 days according to AppleInsider. Where it will appear first, Japan, Australia or somewhere else, is another matter entirely.
