News, News, News, and More News
Tuesday March 25th Edition
Yes, it's a little late but we are unorganised. Thanks to Paxton for today's effort;
Well, Tuesday is normally a slow news day, and today is no exception, so get ready for the shortest regurgitated series of news updates this side of the Daily Telegraph.
Appleinsider is reporting that everybody's favorite Mini, the Mac Mini is to continue, backtracking on their previous report that its days were numbered.
The Boy Genius Report is taunting us here in Australia again with their series of iPhone OS 2.0 Screenshots. When we get the iPhone in Australia, besides being anyones guess, will be locked to one network, probably Telstra, meaning Australia’s unlocking community won’t slow.
The Unofficial Apple Weblog is reporting that Adobe is shipping Photoshop Elements 6, so you can now use Elements in Leopard. There are some new bits and pieces, but follow the link if you want to know more.
Macworld have reviewed the new XServe Intel. They give it 4 Stars (or Mice), and seem pleased with the new updates to the only server that is native for OSX.
Fujitsu (through Engadget) have announced the world’s fastest large capacity Laptop Hard Drive, which spins 320 Gigs ad 7200 RPM. The 3Gbps SATA-equipped MHZ2 BJ series measures in at a standard 9.5-mm and spins at 7,200rpm with a 16MB cache and 25dB idle noise level. Average seek times are listed at 10.5-ms for data reads and 12.5-ms for writes while drawing 2.3 watts of power. No Doubt Mark Taylor will be getting his hands on this when the TV ads start. $10 to the member who can understand what he says and post it here first.
Second lastly,
MI6, the place where James Bond Works is recruiting Mac users to help forge documents. “We're sure you'll understand that as an organisation that collects secret intelligence, we can't tell you a great deal about what you'll be doing,” the ad states. “You'll also benefit from very high-quality training in your specialist skills.” The winning recruit will work within the Design and Print team of the organisation. And will be licensed to Mac, on the Queen’s business. Anyone here interested? At MacTalk, we look after our members.
Stay tuned for the Employment section...
Lastly, Today is Monday in the USA. That means, tonight, whilst we sleep, the Apple fairies will be updating something in Apple’s cabinet. We don’t know what, but whether it be a new button on the keyboards, or a new Form Factor for the iPod Power adaptor. Whatever it is, you can be sure it will be seen here on MacTalk First
