Tuesday 26 February - Updated MacBooks and MacBook Pros

This
Tuesday's product update saw Apple last night introducing Intel's new Penryn processor to its entire notebook lineup.
The entire range features larger hard drives, while the higher-end MacBooks have seen a memory bump and the MacBook Pros feature double the video RAM, LED displays and the MacBook Air's multitouch trackpad.
The Apple Australia store also saw considerable price drops on each of the models ($100 for MacBooks and $200 for MacBook Pros) bringing them more in line with US prices due to the current strength of the Australian dollar.
The new models are as follows:
Macbook 13" 2.1GHz / 1GB / 120GB / Combo / White - $1499 ($1349 EDU)
Macbook 13" 2.4GHz / 2GB / 160GB / Super / White - $1799 ($1649 EDU)
Macbook 13" 2.4GHz / 2GB / 250GB / Super / Black - $2099 ($1949 EDU)
Macbook Pro 15" 2.4GHz / 2GB / 200GB 5400RPM / 256MB Vram - $2699 ($2449 EDU)
Macbook Pro 15" 2.5GHz / 2GB / 250GB 5400RPM / 512MB Vram - $3399 ($3149 EDU)
Macbook Pro 17" 2.5GHz / 2GB / 250GB 5400RPM / 512MB Vram - $3799 ($3549 EDU)
Interestingly, the
Apple Remote is no longer included as standard with any Mac notebook, but rather retails separately at $29.
For the record, although various rumour sites had been speculating over the release of MacBook Pro updates in February, only a couple of sites hit the nail on the head at the last minute -
MacRumors noted that we would see MacBook updates, and
MacBidouille got the specs for all of the updated notebooks absolutely spot on.
Come back next Tuesday for more Apple goodness - new Apple Cinema Displays or iMacs? Or the much-anticipated iPhone SDK?
