Isn't this a typical ploy of a business who is currently lacking in work. Offer to diagnose a computer for free only to find problems that may not exist which then allows business to pick up again.

I don't mean to be cynical but thats just the way this coupon comes across to me, being a person who also owns their own business, its something i might try myself

Offer to inspect peoples electrical switchboard for faults, for free, to then find certain problems that could easily lead people to believe that their house is going to burn down if they dont get the fault rectified.

If that is true, why offer it to MacTalk members only?
Why not splash it all over the website and in every magazine......

I actually agree with you here, there is always a catch. Reminds me of the simpsons episode where homer takes the car in to the free assessment with the coupon book that Bart gave him and they say the tyres are about to fall to pieces. (Super bowl episode)

However surely MacMedic just want recognition or its a plea for attention.

There's no catch people. We are just trying to give something back to the community that's supported us, and help out those people that can't necessarily afford a professional opinion.

Next thing you know, you'll all be saying how GNU software is just a ploy to make us pay....

Thank you for everyone that has bought your computer in to take advantage of our free offer. Its completely free of catches or obligations. As pointed out, this offer is currently only for MacTalk readers.

MacMedic offer an excellent service. I've had one client have his data rescued through MM, and more will follow should Data Rescues be needed.

Keep up the good work!

cheers,

ClockWork

I Don't think it's a ploy. I wish someone had warned me the last time I had a HD failure. A simple diagnosis test on my Mac could have warned me.

I can vouch for Adrian - I used to work with him and he's 100% reputable.
