Steve Jobs drops a bombshell on the Apple community, putting up a now infamous post on his "blog", the Apple Hot News page.

Stevie has announced that 3rd party applications on the iPhone are coming in February. An SDK (software development kit) which will allow programmers to develop applications for the iPhone, will be released in February.

This means that now programs can be made for the iPhone, and uploaded without the need to hack into it.

The developers on MacTalk are drooling, discuss the prospect of an SDK coming soon in this thread: Apple US: Offical Third Party Applications on the iPhone
