Forum member Quamen has organised a Melbourne Cocoaheads chapter - a group for people who code on the Mac. The first presentation will be on Wednesday August 22, 2007 06:00 PM AEST at RMIT University - Swanston St Library, Building 8, Level 5

Make your way to the library in Building 8 (signs are everywhere on campus, and here's a map from the RMIT website) and look for the gaggle of Mac laptops

There are 2 talks planned for the second meeting are:
A Whirlwind Tour of Xcode - Mathieu Tozer
Core Data - An Introduction - Gareth Townsend

This meeting will also be recorded and uploaded to MacTalk, for those interstate who want to watch!

that's great about the recording, my day job involves C#.net programming for the opposition, but i have never even known the first thing about cocoa and mac programming so I'd love to see this and get an idea what it's all about.

a question: are all the tools you need to write apps for the mac available freely from apple or do you need to pay some sort of developer subscription to have access to them?

cheers

Yep all free. Buying a select or premier membership does get you some extra things but nothing most people cant live without and nothing you must have to build mac apps
