So why should I use it over Camino or Safari? My two main browsers on the mac platform.
But I must say, I do love all this choice. And they said there wasn't much software on the mac, pfft.

You don't have to. Safari has far better integration with Mac OS X.
Firefox has the latest features and security fixes from Mozilla.org team as they paid most attention to Firefox.
Camino does not get updated often, and the actually programming team for Camino is very small.

Err, Isn't Netscape based on the Mozilla core these days?
All I can say is that FireFox is great. Once images are cached it seems to be way faster than anything else i've used.
Definately recommended for AppleTalk browsing!

I shall give it a go! Three web browsers, two more than what I would use under Windows.

The current Netscape is based on the (bigger and fatter) Mozilla 1.7.2.
Mozilla Firefox uses the same GRE (Gecko Rendering Engine) but a different shell, which is why it's slo lean and fast.
The combined tools of Mozilla Firefox (Web), Thunderbird (Mail/News) and Sunbird (Calendar) are essentially what the full blown Mozilla 1.7 is. I personally prefer them in three separate small packages than one big behemoth.
And as we all know, Safari uses KHTML for its rendering engine, which is based on the code from Konqueror (the browser part of the KDE Desktop for XWindows on Linux/UNIX).
Galeon (the GNOME browser) is also Gecko based.

Safari sucks because its not open. Im a vivid supporter of Open Source software.
Firefox gets the security fixes first, although doesnt have integration with OS X still looks extremely nice and has RSS support.
Camino takes off where Firefox leaves MacOS X. The project led by someone from the Safari group, it provides OS X integration and is written entirely from scratch. Because it is not based on Mozilla/Firefox it has a smaller coder base therefor patches are released less often than Mozilla/Firefox.
Attached is a picture of Firefox 1.0 for Mac. I personally prefer the white interface than Safari's brushed metal. Its your own taste...

I don't want to get into the pro's and cons of different browsers. I tried Firfox sometime ago and wasn't impressed. This version seems a lot snappier. For now I will give it a go.
Can anyone point in the right direction to import my Safari Bookmarks.
Thanks

You can import safari bookmarks via camino - maybe you can use that, then import them to firefox from there?
I've decided to set firefox as my default browser today to give it a shot. Apart from it's excruciatingly long load time - it's quite good. Still a bit too "windows" for my liking - i miss aqua buttons.

Disko thanks for that.
I eventually exported the bookmarks from Safari into a HTML file and then subsequently imported them into Firefox.
Firefox has default imports from Netscape 6/7 and Mozilla not Camino. However the stepped process above worked anyway.
I also miss tha acqua buttons.

Can i ask a stupid question? (apart from that one )
When it comes down to security with browsers, is Microsoft IE the best? Or will firefox do just fine, and have the same amount of security?
