There was an email read on todays Buzz Out Loud (ep:830) about this and gave nocleanfeed.com a plug, so hopefully the Australians that listen to BOL that weren't aware of the proposal will now check it out and get involved.

Hi guys,

I'm glad there are lots of sensible people around here maintaining the rage. I just wanted to check in again and let you know EFA hasn't forgotten about the dreadful filter. I (from EFA) have been visiting the Electronic Frontier Foundation and we have lots of good ideas about ramping up the fight this spring and summer. I'll keep you all posted on the best way you can hassle the Government.

Rock on.

Phone calls and people camping outside with signs should do pretty well. As long as the sign reads - internet filtering = slower internet then it will be fine. if it reads internet filtering is a loss of freedom then people will label you a paedophile/porn addict/criminal

I wonder whether the censored Internet will at least have an Inappropriate Wednesday...

Cheers

The fact is that censorship always defeats its own purpose, for it creates, in the end, the kind of society that is incapable of exercising real discretion. ~Henry Steele Commager

Arstechnica have written an article about it and it's been submitted to Digg: Digg - Net filters "required" for all Australians, no opt-out

Get a few of us Digging it might bring it to the attention of more people I hope

Hey SteveJay,

I'm not sure that this quote helps with taking a position against censorship. One purpose of the proposed policy for introducing censorship is that that is would prevent moral "harm" to minors, and thus could be considered rightfully exercised.

I'm certainly not for the censorship; I think that it is up to individuals to deal with these issues.

Our mate Ben has an interview with the PR person from Senator Conroy's outift: Tech Wired Australia - An Australian Technology Blog and Podcast

Nothing at all answered - it seems they don't know what they're doing, or if they do, they know it's unpopular and aren't saying a word.

Which sites are good to send to Luddites that may get interest in the issue, but maybe they won't since they are Luddites. (Ok not die hard Luddites from the past.)

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
