file sharing/networking problemo

Hey guys,
I'm having a bit of a networking issue at the moment, as the title suggests. My problem is that i cannot connect to my other iMac on my network, or see its public folder when i click on it under 'shared' in the finder even though i can see and connect to my iMac with my other iMac. When I click 'connect' when my other iMac is selected, after about 30 seconds it comes up with an error message saying "there was an error connecting to the server. Check the server name or IP address or try again..." I have file sharing turned on and all my settings appear to be the same as my other iMac, but yet I cannot see its public folder or connect to it.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards,

Have you tried turning off the firewall on the machine that you can't connect to.

I've noticed the same thing. Even though sharing is set up and the firewall indicates that its allowing AFP file sharing, when I open up appfirewall.log it shows the firewall denying my connection attempts. I find the way around it is to disable the firewall, as Tupps said and then restart it again. I can connect without a problem after that and still have my firewall. Pain in the arse though.
