Exclamation Mac Support in Melb Western Suburbs

We've had a major issue with our old G5 iMac that is being used by the in laws.
iTunes is corrupted, and whilst we have been able to install v8, we can't remove the old version.
Entourage then stopped working last night, and this morning the computer decided to not start up at all.
We are currently coping files via FireWire connection to our new iMac before we contemplate a total restore.
Being really only apple users, and not that technically minded, we are not sure what to do re the total restore, hence the asking the question does anyone have a suggestion on a good Mac technician in the Western Suburbs (Hoppers Crossing - Werribee) area of Melbourne?

I recommend a complete clean install, then move files (not apps) back to the old imac. You may have a hard drive on the way out, or just got a OS corruption. Try a clean install and see how it goes.

The western suburbs is a big gaping hole for Mac support.
Call up MacMedic and they'll travel to your place.

We've done an archive and install which we thought went all OK, however we are now discovering a majority of the applications that wont open.

They are; iTunes, Safari, Adobe Reader, Automater, Dictionary, Dashboard, Front Book, Garageband, iCal, iMovie & Stuffit

Are they all on disk 2 of the Mac OS X installation?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how we get these applications to work?

Considering MacMedic is based in Sydney and he is in Melbourne - at a call out rate of $66 and then $66 per half hour - I have calculated that it will cost about $1300 before he even turns the machine on !!!

We've found the problem and it is now all working.
Problem was that we forgot that we had installed Tiger on this iMac so when we installed only OS X 10.3 some of the applications wouldn't work. Now that we have installed 10.4 all is working perfectly.
Thank you for your suggestions on this matter.
