My Mac's Keyboard Has Gone Crazy!

So I was on my computer and all of a sudden the left click button on my mouse broke (just stopped working) It wasn't the standard apple mouse, just another regular mouse I use, I didn't know what had happened so I restarted my computer to see if that would fix it, it didn't so I got out my original apple mouse and started using that.

Everything was fine until I started iTunes to listen to some music, and when I pushed the volume up button (F11) on my keyboard (standard iMac keyboard) instead of turning the volume up it brought up the widget things, and that's when I realized that none of the buttons were doing what they were supposed to do I don't know what I did? I just restarted my computer and changed the mouse. So I went into the keyboard settings and made everything default and it still didn't change. This is my first mac and its relatively new so I'm no expert. Any help would be greatly appreciated

F11 bringing up the Dashboard sounds like a setting in System Preferences> Dashboard and Exposι > Keyboard and Mouse Shortcuts. I don't know why changing a keyboard would change these settings, but see if there is anything there that has been changed.

Yeah when I went there and all the setting were wrong so I turned them off, so now the buttons don't do anything

I just realized that if I hold down the "fn" button whilst pressing one of the "F" buttons (F7, F8, F9 etc) it does what its supposed to do, ie. volume up, play pause, brightness up, skip track etc. instead off bringing up the dashboard, windows, spaces etc. which is what its doing now.

What would make this happen? I just restarted my computer and the keyboard had switched up on me...

Try fiddling with this setting in System Preferences --> Keyboard & Mouse --> Keyboard tab

Click the image to open in full size.

Good to see your keyboard is back in order. Now, were you using a standard USB mouse?

Yeah, all of a sudden I tried to click something and nothing happened so I thought my computer froze but then after restarting it I realized it was the mouse. I tried again just before, and all the buttons work fine except the left click button which seems to work okay for about 5 minutes then craps out.

Looks like I'll have to buy a new one because the standard apple mouse is absolutely horrible..

I have no problems with the Mighty Mouse. BUT our family is a HEAVY user of the humble "mouse". And we've been through so many! USB cord mice are the worst. Even our wireless one died after a few months. These standard USB ones don't last. However, my wireless Mighty Mouse still chugs along nicely....just had to replace the batteries after the 1 year mark. Now, it sits in my drawer, as I prefer using the multi-touch touchpad of my MBA.
