iChat keeps opening randomly opening
Hi guys.
Every time I get a new IM on iChat, the iChat on my iMac (the computer I'm not using) launches and shows the message popup. How can I stop this?
Thanks,
Ricky.

Maybe it is Bonjour.
iChat preferences > Accounts > Bonjour > Use Bonjour Instant Messaging.
Untick it (if you're not using it).

Maybe in general preferences you need to untick "Show status in menu bar", or at least "When i quit iChat, set my status to Offline".

I followed your advice, but the problem remains alive.
Thanks anyway.

Is the iChat status icon in your menubar, and is it dark or light?

I don't have the status thing up there. But the app itself is quit.

Usually when iChat is in the status bar, this happens to me. Make sure it isn't up there.

Check ichat preferencs Messages and make sure Watch for my name in incoming messages is unticked.
This will cause the auto window in ichat to come up if your name is mentioned.
