Aperture 2 won't load
I bought a new MacBook some time ago and restored everything from my older MacBook to the new one over migration assistant. All was well until I tried to run Aperture 2.0.
This is the error I get from console
Dyld Error Message:
Symbol not found: _BKItemOriginalPathKey
Referenced from: /Applications/Aperture.app/Contents/MacOS/Aperture
Expected in: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BrowserKit.framework/Versions/A/BrowserKit
This is the same system as it was in the older MacBook. Aperture is the only app that won't launch. Yes, Aperture 2 ran on the old Mac.
Old MacBook: 2.0GHz Core Duo 2GB RAM
New MacBook: 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo 4GB RAM
Can anyone check if that file is there on your system and explain what it's supposed to do? Also, if anyone can email me that file so I can get Aperture to load again?
TIA

You should re-install Aperture. Nothing in /System can be trouble-shooted that way. It might require other system updates have been installed first. I'd say it's not exactly the same system as on your old MacBook.

I've reinstalled Aperture three times now. No dice. The missing part is a file deep inside Systems folder which probably has nothing to do with Aperture installation. Not looking forward to reinstall my system :/
ON a related note, where does Aperture keep its preferences and support files anyway? Doesn't seem to exist in /home/Application Support nor home/Library/Preferences

Did you have 2 accounts on the mac.. an admin and user account?
I found that I had to log into my admin account and install aperture there.. start the application in the admin account fill in the codes etc...
then I could use it in my user account.
hope this helps

Awesome! Will try that. Thanks! Dunno why I didn't think to look there, usually in my list of places to search.

Bah. I have absolutely none of the files and folders listed there to be removed.

I googled "BrowserKit.framework" and found it.

LOL This thread is listed 4th on the results page!
Fraser Speirs found out why Aperture 2 won't load. Archive and Install breaks it. Now to find a solution.
This thread from Apple's forum suggests installing the frameworks individually from the Leopard DVD using Pacifist.

I had exactly the same problem when I used migration assistant to move my data over yesterday to the new iMac.
I had to reinstall Aperture and everything was sweet after that.
