Handbrake won't install

Have been a mac user for only 3 days(and lovin it] but the problem I am having is I dowloaded handbrake last night a dmg file and can't get it install in my applications folder.
I have tried double clicking it and that gives me a handbrake app and doc folder from that I have tried to drag handbrake app to applications directory which it won't let me.
If I double click the handbrake app it opens up and lets me do a dvd rip OK, but the handbrake app is still contained in downloads folder and not fully installed.
Do not get any requests for administrator required to install as I am using a standard account.

PS Love how this version of handbrake gives you a chapters list on my touch.

Drag the handbrake file from the DMG or downloads folder rather into the Applications folder, you should be all set!

oh BTW.
By standard account, you mean the account the computer started with? Thats an admin account anyway

Is your log-in user an admin user or a regular user?

If there are permissions set wrong on the Applications folder preventing you doing this, you can fix this by repairing permissions using Disk Utility.

Problem solved, was as easy as hitting the box marked authenticate.
Finder then put it in my apps folder OK.
The dmg file is still in my downloads folder do I now erase that or will that remove installed app?

You can trash the dmg file.

Off-topic: what do you do in Paraburdoo? All I know that's there are the Rio Iron ore mines and plants. I worked at Rio for a while - we used to call it Paraburdise

Thanks for the help, work for Rio as well as a sparky looking after the mobile mining plant.
As for Paraburdise after nearly 4 years here, think it is a shi*hole and getting ready to move on.

Yeah, know what you mean about "Paraburdise", I was based in Perth and just used to go up for trips. We called it Paraburdise (tongue-in-cheek) for the reasons you said. At least you sparkies are in demand now, so hopefully you can get somewhere else.
