Way to eject certain devices when put to sleep?

Hey guys,

Is there a way to eject a certain device when I close my macbook (ie. put it to sleep) and then have it remount once brought back? I realise I could maybe do it using automator (but I don't want to run a script necessarily) but if there was a simpler way that'd be fantastic.

Reason I ask is because my external firewire enclosure always runs the drive and I would like to turn it off when I put the mac to sleep. Having to eject it beforehand by hand is a bit of a pain so am wondering if there is an easier way.

Thanks again guys,
-Dan
