mds and Finder using 210% of CPUs!!!
Hokay...I'll make this story as short as possible.
I tired to install Photoshop CS3 on the Mac Pro. No dice. Thinking I can get around it, I installed on my girlfriend's G4 iBook (running 10.4 - 800MHz) and tried to do the CS1 trick I had done years before - just copying the app and the application support folder with it. This plan seemed to be okay, although 'permissions' prevented me from dragging the whole app support folder across (and I was in a hurry so thought maybe I could get away with whatever didn't want to come along). Anyways, the install worked, and I got Photoshop CS3 running on 10.5. But! Now, something called 'mds' is using 130% of the CPU, no matter what. And on top of that, Finder is using 80%, for a combined 210% of my four cores!
What and why and what should I do? Should I just try a clean install back to Tiger, and then install Photopoop, and then upgrade to leopard? Or is my dodgy trick haunting me and undoable?
Cheers for any help!
Justin
