I'm getting proficient with DVD Studio Pro (4.1) and I've managed to burn a couple of DVDs as I progress with a couple of projects (my sister's wedding, and some footage for Dad).
With my sister's wedding I'm just creating slideshows and using audio from iTunes, which is converted to AIFF by DVDSP and seems to play fine. However on the other project I have some AIFF audio on the titles, but no sound on the actual tracks that play (so I know it's not a speaker/DVD player issue).
The video in question was originally in XviD format, and the audio AAC. I'm getting DVDSP to encode the video to 2Mbps MPEG-2 (it's very old WW1 footage, so ultra-low quality is fine here). Now If I let DVDSP encode the audio, a 40minute audio track is 500MB+, which is ridiculous. I tried to convert it using Compressor to AC-3 audio (Dolby 2.0), and it created a file that's only 60MB (noice), but when previewing it in DVDSP, QuickTime, or after building/burning the DVD, it's silent.
I thought maybe you couldn't mix audio formats in DVDSP, but I can't find any setting for that, and I also tried deleting the one AIFF sound file it had on the menu screen, with the same result.
Should I be encoding using something other than Compressor, or do I need any additional codecs for QuickTime for this? Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
