Mail.app - Mail import from mail.app loses attachments

Hi guys,

I've got two computers, my main one and my old one. Both are running 10.4 (although the old one might still be on 10.4.8). Anyway, I want to combine all my old mail in with the mail on already on my new machine.

So, I backed up the ~/library/mail/ on both machines and then copied the ~/library/mail/ from the old machine to the new machine.

In mail.app I choose import, select Mail for Mac OS X then selected the copy of the old ~/library/mail/ folder and told it to import everything.

After a minute or two all my messages and folders were showing up but a) they've all lost their attachments even though I have them in the folder I was importing from and b) a lot of HTML messages now display the HTML as text rather than rendering it which make them hard to read.

Anyone had the same problem? Any suggestions?

on the old machine is there a folder ~/Library/Mail Downloads.

Check to see if the attachments are in this folder.

They appear to be in a folder called attachments inside ~/library/mail however the old machine is turned off and packed up at the moment. I'll dig it out and check

I'm combining mail from two machines which is a bit different from just migrating from one to the other so I don't think copying the pref's is a good idea.
