"Not a valid widget" error message

I just migrated all my stuff from a G4 DP1.25 to a G5 DP2.5 and a couple of my widgets were not happy, including the Internode Usage one.

It was still there when I invoked Dashboard for the first time but would not show anything & just beeped at me when I clicked on it. I tried to reinstall it and got the error message below. I downloaded it again in case there was a new version, which there wasn't, and got the same message. I've done all the obvious stuff - repairing permissions & so on.

Any ideas?

have you tried putting it straight into ~/library/widgets

This just installs it manually, it's not very hard and it should work.

Thanks but it still doesn't run - just beeps when clicked on on the row of widgets at the bottom of the screen & will not install from the Widget Manager console thing.

Have you tried deleting it's plist file in your preferences folder and reloading?

Didn't even realise it had its own plist but there you go. In any event, the behaviour is unchanged. Deleted plist & reloaded widget - manually, still wont install it automagically - and it is the same. Just tried it in another user account and it's the same there too. <sigh>

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Update: Looks like the problem is due to having my disk formatted case-sensitive. Or, more correctly, the widget breaks on a case-sensitive filesystem because the developer didn't take the possibility into account. S/he is not alone though - apparently there are lots of things that break. Search Apple Discussions for more info.

I'm sorry if this topic has been dead for some time, but it was an early search on Google, so I assume many people will read this. I wanted to say that this was, in fact, the case for me (even running Leopard, God knows why it isn't yet fixed) and thank you very much!
