iPod crashing iTunes, etc...
Hey there,

Can anyone help me - this is driving me nuts.

I have a 4G iPod I'm plugging into a G5 with the firewire cable. It's showing up on screen, but freaks out trying to upload tracks - gets a few tracks in and then comes up with an error.

Anyone else had this problem?

To give more info, I keep getting this message:

"The iPod cannot be updated. The required file is in use."

No, I think the 4G takes both FW and USB - well, it came with both cords anyway. I tried it with the USB cord and it wouldn't even show up on the desktop.

Perhaps try restoring the iPod and then re-sync it afterwards? I'd try that, especially if there is nothing that I'd lose on the iPod (as restoring totally wipes all data on the iPod). If you have data to lose, wait for other suggestions!

I've tried restoring it...

Spilla, why would I put it into Disk Mode? What does that do?

So it arrived ok?

I restored it on my G5 at work, with the latest iTunes and software prior to sending it to you. Have you got the latest versions of everything?

also - with restoration i just left the ipod at the screen to select language
etc... Have you selected "english" ? Not sure if that would influence mounting it
