Well, I hope that topic made sense.

I've come across with a fiddly problem - when a new CD is to burned, the process crashes out before burning starts and restarts the Finder. Then locked files named "Untitled CD 1" and so on are left on the desktop.

I suspect either a corrupt preference file or perhaps some access issue to wherever OS X might use for a temporary store of files before it burns them. Any ideas? Machine is an Intel iMac wih OS 10.4.7

Well, figured it out - turns a dud CD R can cause all this - most weird - it basically caused the crash and a restart was needed to burn again - any other CD R worked fine.
