 Ipod Playlist Not What Itunes Sees

Alrighty then.

I have a 512 shuffle. Now I have been using it on my ibook. Works fine with that playlist.
Now I have installed iTunes on my PC only becaseu I thought it would make it easier I was wrong.
Now everytime I plug my iPod into my PC it says it wants to scratch everything on it and use whats on my PC. When I click no ther ipod playlsit is bear on my PC. I can reverse the situation by acepting it, then my Ibook cant see the ipod playlist.

All I want it to do is scan my ipod to know whats on there. Otherwise Ill be goingback to good old trust worthy winamp.

edit: It seems to me that iTunes has taken the cheap way out by only storing that particular ipods playlist and information seperate from whats acutrally on there. rather than having a dynamic update. Not happy jan

I've found that every copy of iTunes generates itself a unique identifier for its Library, meaning you get this problem with different computers. However, if you copy your iTunes Library Folder (Usually ~/Music/iTunes Music/iTunes) to another computer, then the iPod will load up fine, even if the contents of the Libraries diverge. Be careful though, the Shuffle will automatically delete any music files it can't find in the Library it is connected to.
