That's the first poscast I've ever downloaded.
3 Minutes into it and I turned it off.
It's boring, it's slow paced and do I really need to be told that there is a "the" at the front of an email address called "themacuser..."?
I dunno if it's just me, but there was nothing in the first 3 minutes that caught my attention as being worth listening to. So if there's one thing to work on it's gaining my (or other users) attention and keeping it.

Sadly have to agree got about three in also.
I don't think single person is a good way to go. You need a co-host so it changes the voice.
Maybe later on was fine but the start just didn't work.
Still don't give up it is the first and if radio announcing was that easy they wouldn't pay John Laws all that money would they?

I must admire you for putting the show together. I hope you're not put off by a couple of non-supportive reviews. Keep on trying - after all it was your first go!! I've added you to my list of podcast subscriptions.

Haven't listened yet but if they think they can do better they should make a podcast and we'll see how good theirs is. I'll have alisten and tell you what I think.

Sorry thought he asked for feedback and didn't see where we said we could do better.
You might care to note that he agreed with my feedback re 2 hosts and sadly couldn't this time.
At least before we posted we actually took the trouble to hear it

Never said I could do better.
But if you ask me constructive critisism is a gazillion times better than ass kissing if you actually want the final product to be any good.
I'm sure wowbagger would agree and hopefully he won't take the comments made by myself and minardifan (and any others for that matter) as offensive, because I'm sure they were not meant to be in any way.

Wowbagger, Firstly congratulations on your first podcast.
I have to agree with Quamen and minardifan re the first three minutes. Having said that I think the Bill Gates quote was brilliant. Guys the cast did improve later. I think it is very hard without a second host to bounce off and that became obvious also.
The volume fluctuated very early in the cast but that is easily fixed.
Maybe a little music (royalty free or garageband created if you are worried about repercussions) would help break up the show a little. If you want to laugh that is great but move back from the mike a little <_<
I think it was a pretty good first attempt and look forward to your next edition

I think it was overlong and you waffled too much. Less is more. Production values were decent though. Grats on getting it out though, and good luck with #2.

For a good reference on how to do a Mac show, listen to Inside Mac Radio. Very polished and informative. And generally considered the top dog as fair as mac content podcasts go.
Which probably means that if you try to stick to Australian content you will fair much better. May be getting a reporter from each state might be cool. Someone could report from in a retail location, or interview a local Mac identity, or even roll up to a user group meeting. Lots of little tangents to go with!
Great attempt at a first show!

three things...
and no i'm not offending you in any way ok... useful tips
1) get a 'popper stopper' http://www.coutant.org/popstop/ for more info
2) i dunno what exact recording techniques youa re using but aside form above its good sounding.
3) It sounds as if you are doing something else, its distracting you, are you playing games. I can't hear you doing anything, you just sound a little vague.
Other than that, it sounds good, and it really gets a ton better, after around 10 mins.
oh yeah, try not to sound too much like john saffran that guy's an annoying prick!

I apologise to minardifan and quamen wasn't feeling happy the day I posted. I know you had critisism which was constructive and take all back that was said, I know you didn't write that. I apologise again and hope your ok with that.

Good to see an Aussie Podcast. Not bad.
My 2cents for the feedback...
-> try and structure your cast more than you have with music intros or something so its got short segments focusing stuff of interest.
-> you said you had been going for 1/2 hour when my pod said it was more like an hour...as others have said, you need to get some more focus and structure tighten up your cast.
-> Its an Aussie cast so giving us Aussie specific stuff is good. I liked the local inventory levels info. I would like to hear about Mac deals each week that stores have on offer - real deals please - which includes 3rd party hardware like Dell screens, routers etc.
-> on Aussie stuff, how about a segment rounding up all the sorts of places Aussie Mac users can find forums, groups etc for help and friends.
-> good to hear your a mac tech head. Looking forward to short snappy segments fixing problems and adding cool stuff to the Mac.
-> Do some prerecorded interviews with Aussie Mac personalities...journalists, user groups members, forum monitors, people who get to an overseas Mac event...
