Yes.

It happened to me with my G5 iMac.

It required a full logic board replacement. The issue was with the capacitors swelling on the logic board.

Go to an Apple Store (a real one not a reseller) and see what they say.

Under warranty? Demand a new one.

Same thing happened to me but to a lesser extent. I made a thread about it herE:

Frequent weird window redraw issues

New graphics card from the ultra-cool Xenex fixed my problems right up.

Agree if you have any warranty left on your mac I'd be making some noises about a replacement.

Edit: Meanwhile, the title of this thread pretty much guarantees it will never help another person. PLEASE use meaningful subjects to your threads. stuff like "HELP!" and "HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED BEFORE?!!!" make it far less likely this thread will come up in searches in the future and thus recuce the value of the thread.

I am a knob.... yes, let this be a lesson to everyone out there.
I did back up most of my main things but have lost a bit too.
Yes guessed it, my HD died in the night....
I should have listened to everyone here and taken it straight in to apple but after I restarted the screen did not have any more probs and I continued on as normal. MISTAKE.
THe HD does not come up anywhere not even in target disk mode .
In disk utility the disk in the drive is there on the dead mac but the HD is not...

Waiting for: I told you so
THIS SUCKS!

Had the new HD put in and have the old drive still.
Have tried to mount it but no go. It shows up in disk utility as a 2 TB Initio Media when it was a 500 giga... VERY STRANGE!
Kinda need to get the info off this thing. Anyone know any cheap data recovery places?

I've used payam.com.au with good results before.
