ipod touch battery replacement

Hi everyone,
I did a search on ipod touch battery replacement and could only find articles here about replacing older model ipod batteries. My iPod touch is no longer holding the charge so well. I was wondering whether I should pay an apple store to replace the battery or use one of the do-it-yourself kits. Any idea what it costs to get done at the store? Can anyone share their experience or offer advice? My brain says -go to the store and get them to do it, but my inquisitive side says 'nah, open it up and have a look while you're in there".

I'd take it to the shop. You will be breaking the warranty and the batteries are still fairly "new", hardly any would be in your situation I would think so finding information would be difficult.

no kits

According to my searches, you can't replace the battery in your ipod touch yourself - it is too hard to open. This company sells kits, but for the ipod touch they recommend sending the touch to them:
iPod touch Battery Replacement Products and Services

that is what i would do - why take the chance and break something - leave the risk up to ipodjuice.com.

Could the admins double check my suspicions that she is an employee of iPodjuice.com as her prior posts indicate that she is. Just pay Apple the 100 some dollars to do it. If it is within warranty it may apply for faulty battery status.

I would just pay Apple ($109 inc GST)

Its worth it considering most likely you will break something or atlest bend the metal back. I know Applecare will replace my battery if it goes 50% under advertised charge, Not sure if its the same under the normal warrenty.
