Midnight Oil on the iTMS!

Good news for Oils fans - they finally have their entire back-catalog on the iTunes store! There's been a couple of albums I've had trouble tracking down, so being able to get em all off iTunes is ace

A decade ago I would have bought the lot (or at least those albums I didn't yet own). Today, not a chance...

I don't know that the changed attitudes and political aspirations of the bands lead singer diminish the value of the music.. I'm sure they all meant and felt strongly for the topics they wrote and sang about when they were young and idealistic! Anyhoo, people change is all I'm saying... but their musical legacy lives on.

Brilliant, just needed Bird Noises to complete my collection.

That's awesome news. I was dissapointed a year ago when I found out that The Oils weren't on iTunes. I too have had trouble tracking some of the albums. CD shops these days have terrible back catalogues.

That's the best thing about iTunes, finding albums that aren't in print without needing to scour eBay, second hand stores or weird record stores where I feel inadequately cool.

Great to see one of my favourite bands on iTunes (though I already have all their albums).

Whilst there is a lot of music on iTunes, it doesn't have everything. What about other great Aussie artists like Icehouse or TISM? I do find it odd what is not on iTunes, for example some artists have only 1 or 2 albums and not the complete catalog. Also, I have noticed that sometimes albums disappear. I bought Def Leppard's Hysteria when iTunes came out here, now it is not there!

I think the artists have a say in it.

Mondo Rock wasn't listed.. and I pirated everything that I wanted

in the process I found their official website.. I fired off an email to them asking why they were not on iTunes

Ross Wilson wrote back and said he had no idea.. but that it was a good idea.

24 hours later he sent me another email saying it had been organised... 36 hours later the music was there. I haven't checked to see if it still is.

(All their music that I pirated I then repurchased).

And on another note.. why back when (I first joined AppleTalk) was when the backdoor was opened into the iTS. I got in and rummaged around found heaps of stuff which I purchased.
The store was delayed, the back door locked down... later when it was reopend a lot of the stuff I had bought.. and a lot of the stuff that I had seen was gone.

So I know it is there... all encoded sitting on their servers... but I think it all comes down to the artist/record companies... what/when/how.
