I now have an iPhone which I am putting podcasts on and just leaving music on my touch. So I have unselected podcasts to be synced yet it is still syncing them anyway. I even did a restore and made sure Podcasts weren't selected and they are still syncing.

Can anyone explain to me why this is happening and how to stop it?

Ok don't worry I am an idiot. I had a smart playlist setup for any tracks with a 0 playcount and it was adding the Podcasts. I just added a line saying don't include Podcasts and all fixed.
