Hey everyone, just thought i'd chime in with a quick review of the JBL Creature II speakers i just bought. Out of the box these look unreal, the shape, the curves and the size are to be marvelled at, the satellites look like they'd fit right in as model spaceships for star wars or something like that.
Set-up is easy, just a matter of connecting the plugs into the right ports..... the satellites i found to be a little tricky to fit in, you really have to give them quite a push. But set-up is easy as.

The sound. For $239, these speakers are well worth the money. The sound is pretty incredible considering their size, and the price. Sure a set of bang and olafson could easily blow these away..... but they'd probably cost ten times as much. I've found though that hard rock and heavy metal music doesn't sound great on them, however, any dance, electronic, or pop music sounds awesome. Classical music even sounds on them. Games sound exceptional too, as well as dvds. Having a sub-woofer attached to your computer makes a huge difference, a lot more than I thought.
For an idea on the volume, if you were to turn them up in a regular sized study, you'd have to shout in order for someone to just hear you. So the strength is pretty solid. They could easily fill a small to medium sized house with music for a party or just having friends around. Just play the party shuffle playlist on iTunes and your set to go!

Even if your not in the market for new speakers, these are still well worth checking out next time your in an apple store.

(I didn't see any other posts in the ipod forum about these, so i just thought I'd add this one in.)

I've listened to those and a pair of Logitech Z-340's in the same room with the same music, and I must say, I couldn't tell the difference in quality. Certainly not enough to warrant the $174 price difference, haha

The only 2.1 computer speakers I've heard that cost more and sound better than the Z-340 are the Monsoon PlanarMedia 9 speakers. Unfortunatley, they aren't manufactured anymore

This an old thread but seems Monsoon speakers still available in Oz.

Have the Monsoon Planar Media 9's myself and they do put out a great sound.

Just seen them advertised at $165, I paid $228 from Next Byte in '03.

If anyone is after great sound (and great design) at a good price, I'd recommend you take a look at these.

I purchased a set of those with my Macbook, mainly because they looked cool!, and matched my white Macbook.

But I must say, I have to agree, the sound is awesome! A truly excellent purchase!

Love the lights under the satellites!
