Default Safari not browsing Secure Websites

Hi guys just setting up a new MacBook at work and having trouble browsing secure HTTPS sites using Safari.

I've checked all the proxy info and even tested out the account I created for the proxy using a windows PC and all seems to work.

I've got FireFox on the mac and that has no troubles at all.

Safari doesn't seem to want to load any secure sites it just sits there with the icon spinning.

Its a MacBook 2.1Ghz Core2 with 1GB ram running Mac OS X 10.5.5

Safari is Version 3.2 (5525.26.12)

We use a domain at work however the mac is not connected to it I only created an AD account for it to use the proxy. As far as I can see it seems to be setup the same as out other mac (seperate AD accounts).

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

edit... Safari browses regular http sites with no problems.

edit.. just noticed this http://forums.mactalk.com.au/16/3506...e-servers.html

Same problem I've googled all morning and I still cannot find a solution that works (Clearing cache, updated everything etc... nothing is working for me).

I had the same problem I used Hamster or something odd that I can't quote remember. I switched to Firefox and the problem went away.

You can try lowering your MTU. (you'll find that in system prefs ->network->ethernet)

try 1400, and go up from there if it works.

Does this happen if you log in as another user on your computer?

Just started having the same problem around midnight last night. Keeps telling me my browser will not do an SSL connection.

Quote:
Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Reason: You're speaking plain HTTP to an SSL-enabled server port.
Instead use the HTTPS scheme to access this URL, please.
Also will not let me update system software.

Might be complete coincidence, but for an hour or so before it started happening the browser was playing up a bit, it would not page back. Also, for the last couple of days when I reboot it tells me the date is wrong, even though it isn't.

I am running Safari version 3.1.2 (5525.20.1)

Firefox (and everything else) seems to work fine.
