iPod Nano 3rd Gen freezing/not starting w/ Belkin mike

My research group bought 3 Nano 3rd Gen. iPods and 3 Belkin mikes
about 6 months ago. The Belkin mikes worked fine on the earlier
Nano's and are listed as working on 3rd Gen.

However all 3 of them are now either freezing or failing to turn on,
erratically, causing lots of problems in interview situations, where they
need to be 100% reliable. They all worked okay at first, for a few interviews.

I bought one myself very recently and that has worked for 3X60-90 minutes
recording so far, but I'm not so confident after hearing this today.

We don't know if it's a problem with the Nano's or with the
mikes. I will suggest trying the restore next time it happens, but
wondered if anyone had any experience or thoughts about this?

Cheers,

Trudy

I've found this possible solution, and thought I'd list it in case anyone else has such a problem in the future:

"My Belkin Tune Talk is not working with my iPod nano 3G or iPod
classic.

Answer:
In order for the Belkin Tune Talk to function with some iPod nano 3G
and iPod classic, the devices must have the most current iPod firmware
installed.

For instructions on updating your firmware, please click here:
Installing and Updating iPod Software

Note: iPod nano 3G and iPod classic models do not support the Quick
Memo button. To record voice memos with these iPod models, simply use
the clickwheel on the iPod itself"

cheers
