2.0 pre-installed on iPod Touch?
Is the 2.0 software coming pre-installed yet? Also, by its model number, how can I tell whether a certain iPod Touch has a certain software update? (etc January software update, 2.0 software update, etc)

You might be able to tell by its serial number, as the serial number includes the year/week of manufacture.
Shouldn't any iPod touch purchased after the 2.0 software update be eligible for a free update anyway?

A touch with the Jan updates will end in X/B - a touch without the Jan updates will not. No touches at the moment will have the latest firmware pre-installed - Apple have not yet shipped them.

Great! I was thinking of buying a 16GB of Ebay, cheaper, with a model number ending in x/b and then buying the 2.0 upgrade.
