Opening a 1st Gen iPod

I was just reading the thread about where to find a first gen iPod and it reminded me that I actually have one sitting in the bottom of my bag.

About 18 months ago the battery finally gave up accepting charges, so I hunted the net and bought a replacement battery (I wasn't going to pay $100 to get a refurbished one when I paid $800 for it to start with!) and these 2 green plastic things that were supposed to help me open the iPod.

Well, they didn't. So, I still have a new battery sitting on my desk and an old iPod in my bag.

Any USEFUL tips on how to open it?

The tip on this site about lifting the metal a little made all the difference and it started coming away so easily. Also, using a pocket knife was better than the screwdriver.

Thanks for the link.
