urgent help! PC Data -> mac with ipod

All,

I need to get some data off a pc and get it home onto my mac. The dvd drive here has failed and its too big for my memory stick. I have a 30gb video ipod all formatted for mac with heaps of stuff on it but nothing that isn't backed up at home.

My question is, can I format the ipod to fat32, and then copy my PC files to it. Can I then plug it into my mac at home, and the copy the files off it. I would like to then format it back to the way it was and let itunes handle all the music and so on.

Sorry for this question but I've very limited time to do this.

Your urgent help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Desperate IIe2PB

Yes, that'll work. Mac OS X can read FAT32.

Thanks! It kind of worked. It mounted once as a drive, and I got most of the data off. However it is now not mounting for some reason.

So, I'm trying to move it trough my old PC but it's painful. Any ideas why it would stop mounting?

In iTunes make sure that you have disk use enabled for the iPod.

my iPod Classic (5G) was windows formatted out of the box and I kept it that way for file transfers. The work pc also has USB 2 rather than the slower USB 1.0 on my G4 (work), hence I manage my iPod at work on a windows pc and on a Powerbook G4 at home.
