Formatting iPod
Heya,
I am trying to format my iPod to OSX from Windows. I have plugged it in, and it has done the normal "You are going to loose all your songs if you sync with this library" blurb, so I said yes, and it copied all the songs from my library but kept it in the windows format. All the songs etc are working.
How can I change it to OSX?

I guess I could, but is this going to kill it? I would imaging it would be better that iTunes did it, I just don't know how.

Have you actually restored the iPod using iTunes? After re-reading your post it sounds like you have just re-synced it to a new computer but not actually reformatted.

In itunes on your Mac select your ipod in the panel on the left. It will then bring up the information screen (the main itunes screen) with information about your iPod. There is a button that says check for updates, and under it should be a button that says restore. Click it and it should reformat your iPod as HFS.
If that doesn't work I would just use disk utility to reformat the drive.

Following on from this, can all iPods work with Windows iTunes if they have been used with Mac (or vice versa) once restored?
I have a B&W 40GB classic that I might have to start to use with Windows at my new job (yuck....)

You'll have to reformat it as a Windows iPod - sadly Windows cannot access a HFS+ partition unless you have third party software installed.
