ipod touch january update - how to get it back after restoring?
hey guys
i just restored the iPod Touch i bought on the forums. it had the January Software Update before i restored it, but after restoring, the update has disappeared. i synced again after a quick google, but still no new apps.
i think it is because my iTunes is not signed into the account that purchased the Update (not my account obviously).
any ideas what i can try to get the apps back legitimately?
thanks

As the 32gb Version came with it you should have no problems

i don't think i'm going to get it back
if you buy a 2nd hand Touch with the paid upgrade, don't restore it if you want to keep the new apps!

The Jailbreak will give you much of what you want anyway, if I were you I'd do that and wait and see how the SDK pans out.

I thought about that but the jailbreak doesn't seem to work with 16gb Touches (according to the replies at ziphine.org). I guess i'll wait for the sdk.
update: if anyone is interested, i've emailed Apple support to see if we can transfer the licence to my account

yeh i thought about that, it would be very gracious of him, but would you trust someone with your itunes account which has your credit card attached to it?

Actually it does, just not with that method. Give this link a shot. It's been my bible since day dot.
Rupert Gee's iPod Touch Jailbreak guide
I've got it going with my 16GB Touch.

January software upgrade disappeared after restore
I recently had to restore my iPod touch because it would not sync. After MANY issues during the restore process, the January software upgrade that I purchased, and can still see that I purchased at the iTunes store, has disappeared. Any suggestions on how to get the software upgrade back WITHOUT repurchasing it???

Software Upgrade Disappeared
Thanks for the suggestion to contact Apple. I did that while waiting on a response from the forum. In all honesty, my experience with both the iPod touch and Apple support for the problems that I have been experiencing have been less than stellar. I have 3 other iPods, all work flawlessly, but this one, I am not very impressed. 'Pretty to look at, pretty to hold, but it seems to be 'broken' most of the time'.... Curious, is anyone else as unhappy with this new 'toy' as I am?
