iTunes playlist 'year' problem

I've got a problem when I try to create a new smart playlist that selects tracks by year. For example, I want to hear all tracks from 1972...

In the dialog box I select 'Year' and it automatically changes to 'is' and the year changes itself to '2008'.

But if I try to change the year it won't let me, and I get an error chime. This is bizarre because in the past I've set up these 'by year' playlists with no problem but suddenly it won't let me do it.

I've looked at the settings for my old 'by year' playlists and I'm not trying to do anything different. It would be easy if iTunes would let me duplicate a playlist then I could just change the year but that's not possible so I'm stuck.

I'm using iTunes 7.5 on Tiger 10.4.11

Anyone else come across this problem? Any ideas?

It's a bug, press delete/backspace to clear the field and then it should become editable.

Tried all that, but whatever I did it wouldn't accept the change of year. I really don't understand this because it let me do this a couple of months ago.

It even got to the point where I scanned the keyboard looking for the NumLock key that used to cause problems like this on my old Windows PC.

UPDATE: Problem was fixed by upgrading to iTunes 7.6 <Macca looks embarrassed and slaps forehead>

I'm wondering if it was a bug in 7.5, anyone still have that version running who could test it out?

On 7.5, works fine with Ginamos suggestion.
